Same crash :-(

Life is hard!

I share the boat with 5 other old farts all with a past in what was once called data processing. Our Tuesday sailing is cult and I would hate to miss it.

Here is the last part of the strace, I compared it to an strace of
starting my working firefox, it's fairly similar up to this point.

I don't have any strace record of touching
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/nppdf.so and
/usr/java/jre1.6.0_02/lib/i386/libjavaplugin_nscp_gcc29.so or
/usr/java/jre1.6.0_02/plugin/i386/ns7-gcc29/libjavaplugin_oji.so in my
working strace. I would consider mv-ing the contents of those dirs
somewhere else as a test and see if the problem changes.

OK, I'll start removing the files one by one. But apparently the plugin manager is either missing or locked. Would it then help by removing the plugins?

My strace starts creating a file
/home/<user>/.mozilla/firefox/<blah>.default/xpti.dat.tmp around the
point where your strace ends as well, fwiw.
