Note I said "normally" not a good idea. There are exceptions, of
course, but just because it's in the home doesn't automatically make it
a good one. e.g. You have guests, they turn on the box, and aren't
stopped from being able to read/delete you mail, or otherwise make a
nuisance of themselves.
It's not something that I'd do, unless I was absolutely certain nobody
could muck about with the box.
To start an application, automatically, once logged in. Look at the
"Sessions" preference.

You'll probably, also, find a few preset items, in there, that are a
waste of your time, and you can disable them from starting. I did that
with bluetooth things, for example.
Yes I did see bluetooth and it is silly to start the software since
this old computer has no bluetooth radio :-)
I will visit that panel again and fix that. Thanks.
