Nautilus does that for most image types, but not for *.png -- at least
not for me.  Getting old; memories going; but I thought I used to be
able to get a thumbnail with *.png.  Checked non-TuxPaint *.png; didn't
display either.

These are not large files (47.5 KiB) and the Nautilus settings have been
double checked and are correct.  Nautilus shows thumb nails of other
image types.  eg *.svg, *.jpg.

Although this is properly a Gnome question, I haven't bothered asking
there.  Never have gotten a useful response from the Gnome mailing list,
forum or various IRCs.
