Just for giggles, what are the permissions on those files and the
/etc/mailman dir?

# ll -a /etc/mailman/

Yeah, that looks reasonable.  If you see the aliases printed to the
screen, then things aren't good.

I'm not quite sure what's going wrong.  It works fine for me (though
that does you little good :).
