It shouldn't take that long.  Even on my 500 MHz celery powered PC, it
churned through a 40 gig drive in a few minutes.

There'd be a text display that something started, and you ought to be
able to hear the drive buzz about.

Using FC 4, 5, 6 & 7, plus CentOS 5.  Today, it's FC7.
