If you've got video at a decent resolution then you have a driver specific to your hardware already. If you use nVidia or ATI graphics then the manufacturer's drivers are usually needed for 3D acceleration (includingdesktop effects). Do you have an ATI card? What type?
Mine is ATI Redeon 9550 and it's getting with the default driver. None resolution problem ever presented.
