I use kdm and hack around with /etc/kde/kdm/kdmrc as required

But that is on a standard F7 install!!!!!!!!!

Create /etc/sysconfig/desktop
DISPLAYMANAGER="KDE"
DISPLAY="KDE"
WINDOWMANAGER="KDE

Edited /etc/kde/kdm/kdmrc as required
