Do you do "alsactl store/restore"?
No I had no idea I could do that. It's not in the Help I have
read. And I did just try it and alsactl does not exist on my FC6 :-(
I will look in /etc and see if you have the name wrong.

It's in /usr/sbin, so it will only be in your PATH if you execute su
-. Once you get the settings the way you want them, you should put
this line into your rc.local file:
/usr/sbin/alsactl restore
Oddly enough it isn't even in the roots path for some reason. But I
used /usr/sbin/ and root did restore and then I closed Volume Control 3
times and it stays JUST as it was set by me.
