Could you please check your /etc/modprobe.conf for
alias wifi0 ath_pci
and comment it out if exist. Next, in same /etc/modprobe.conf add a
line:
alias ath0 ath_pci
After saving, you must unload and reload the modules for ath.

This should do the trick and you will be able to see ath0 in your
NetworkManager.
