Yeah, I'd love to know what forces of the universe conspire to make
that always happen in that order.  :)

Good luck with the encryption.  If ecryptfs doesn't work out for you,
I can second FUSE encfs as a dead simple means to encrypt some files.
It's not perfect security in all ways, but it's pretty good and pretty
easy.  Hopefully you don't need to find out just how strong it is
while traveling. ;)
