You want to check /var/log/messages and look for 'klogd ... started'
messages (which get printed when the system boots). My log files show
the BIOS RAM map after the klogd entry.

Say 'last' on the terminal after you suspect a reboot. It shows which
users have been logged in and out lately. It also shows when the
machine was rebooted (if within the log file's range).

Well, 6 1/2 days uptime does not look like regular reboots, does it?

Which sounds like a problem with some component that both of your
machines share, e.g. graphics driver as described or something else,
or your UPS.

I don't have UPS, but I know that the init process has a special mode
for power losses. Usually, the machine is powered down as long as the
UPS has power. See /etc/inittab, entries 'pf' and 'pr'. Does the
problem go away, if you change the shutdown commands there?
