After further thought I have a question. If this failed, would it
leave the filesystem in a readable state so that data could be pulled
off. By failed I mean that it is no longer bootable. i.e. could I
boot from another partition and mount the upgraded partition in read
write mode? I suspect the answer is yes, and if so, this sounds like a
great way to upgrade. No more messing with CDs and DVDs and images.
