Maybe you should check out whether you fc6 is in runlevel 3 ! Shutdown
gadget wont be find in System menu in runlevel 3!
Is it possible that gdm has something to do with the availability of the
shutdown button within gnome?
I'm curious about why the option is not available within GNOME.
