The files are huge, so they don't magically show up on the many mirrors
instantly. Mirrors need some time to download them too (of course downloads by
mirrors are normally scripted, not manual, but this doesn't change the fact
that the download takes time). Moreover, for the system to scale, not all
mirrors mirror directly off the master server, most mirror from another mirror,
so they need to allow for the time for the files to propagate twice, or even 3
times in some cases.
