I have tried to install Fedora (Fedora 6, Fedora 5, Fedora 2) on my pc using

No matter which version of Fedora I use, the installation doesn't run. In

Never starts and I get a blue screen and no response except to

Has anyone had problems with the Sony DVD writer? Can anyone make
recommendations about

DVD drives that are known to work?
I haven't tried booting from it for an install but this drive:

[root@bend ~]# cat /proc/ide/hdc/model
SONY DVD RW AW-Q170A

seems to work in all other respects (read/write of CDs, and both single and double layer DVDs). As one of the other responses suggested, try different bootable media (earlier Fedora CD or DVD, Windoze, whatever) before blaming the drive.
