Thanks for the reply. I actually figured out how to do it with NetworkManager-vpnc. The VPN connection editor for NetworkManager-vpnc has an option that lets you choose which addresses you want to use the VPN connection for. So, I entered the subnet for the remote network, and it worked! I was able to browse the Internet. But, DNS still breaks for the local network. I guess I'll have to try your script for that.
