Finalising is closing off an uncompleted file system / closing a session. The ISOs for installing Linux are images that already in that state. If they distributed unfinished ISO images, there'd be an awful lot of systems that couldn't read the disc. It usually takes a system set up for burning discs to be able to read unfinished ones, and even then, some will only read their own unfinished discs. That certainly precludes PCs booting from a disc from the BIOS. -- (This box runs FC6, my others run FC4 & FC5, in case that's important to the thread.)
