After you made your CDs, did you run mediacheck on the CDs?


You can try the media check, turn off DMA, other grub parameter
settings and still not get a successful install using CD/DVD. Since
you got this far in the installation process your CD is good enough to
allow you to perform a network install. Find yourself a fast, local
mirror and do the minimum install. Configure/install remaining
packages after rebooting the system. This will save you a lot of
duplicate effort. Almost every package on the CD/DVD has been updated
at least once. No need to reinstall everything multiple times.
