I've got FC6 on an old Gateway 500. 256MB RAM, P111 processor. It installed ok 
with no problems, in graphical mode. The only problem I see is that you might 
be a bit short on harddrive space. Normally I give about 9/10GB for the / 
partition, perhaps 500MB for swap, and maybe 10/20GB for the /home partition, 
depending on what you are going to be doing.

I'm still using FC2 for day to day useage on the same machine, as I've got 
FC5, and FC6 on. It would not be fair to suggest FC2. It's no longer 
supported, but I think it's a great FC version, and is why I continue using 
it.
