Hi Tim and all trying to help me,

What I found out is that the other cd drive in the computer was causing havoc so I went ahead and unplugged it as my Dad could only use this one now because it reads everything. Thanks for the help.

Looking through this thread, I wonder if you've tried reading a disc
that you haven't made yourself, yet?  A pressed CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, or even
DVD-video disc, would do as a test.  Stick one in and wait a moment.  If
you're using KDE or Gnome, it ought to be handled fairly automatically.
Though I remember reading some people had trouble if they'd upgraded to
FC6 from a prior release, rather than doing a fresh FC6 install.
