Well I wouldn't know whether it's rubbish or not, but I took your word for
it being better to use the default cupsd.conf file. It was there under
the filename of cupsd.conf.default (A much smaller file I might add) Then
I tried the cups web interface. It appears to work. But it doesn't find
the driver for an hp deskjet D4100 series printer.
I know such a driver exists, because I'm using it on my laptop. Where
I've got Kubuntu (edgy), Mepis, & Sabayon linux installations. All of
which were able to install it easily with the kde tool...
Then I noticed the welcome (home tab) page of the web interface included:
Visit the official CUPS site for printer drivers and assistance:
www.cups.org
So I clicked on it and tried the "Printer Drivers" tab. But it doesn't
seem like the d4100 is listed there either...
<sigh> Gawd I miss my old hp 5650...
Any other suggestions?
