As a ps to my previous post, a cd'd to /opt/firefox-2.0.0.3-enGB/plugins
and:

ln -s /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/* .

brought all the links alive, and a refresh of about:plugins now displays 
the whole maryann.

Thanks again for getting me headed in the simpler but right direction.
