This sounds like a common install problem with fc6.

If you investigate this a little bit you will find the answer. I bet you
have kernel-2.6.18-1.2798-i586.rpm installed and
kernel-devel-...-i686.rpm

I just figured this out last night that I had the wrong kernel
installed (i586) but I hadnt figured out how to fix it, thanks a lot!
