So now what do I do? Changing the monitor def to "generic lcd 1280x1024" in system-config-display doesn't help.
I wouldn't expect it to. That's just a an arbitrary naming field, it has no impact at all on anything.
Is there a workaround? Is there a way to directly query the EDID? Is there a permanent fix?
The driver already is querying the EDID, which is why its determining that the mode is bigger than the display.
And is there a way to view virtual consoles on digital out?
Do you see them before the OS starts booting (like during POST)? -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ L. Friedman netllama@xxxxxxxxx LlamaLand http://netllama.linux-sxs.org
