I find it strange that you can not view the virtual consoles on
digital out. I have no problems with it here. Are you saying that if
you hit <Ctrl>-<Alt>-<F1> that you get a blank screen or something?
Right. On boot, the first thing I see displayed is gdm (or the NVidia
logo if I use that driver). <Ctrl>-<Alt>-<F1> takes me to a blank screen.
If that is the case, along with the other problems you are having,
you may want to check your hardware, especially the digital cable.
The digital cable has never been used before. The monitor seems otherwise
functional (works fine in analog mode). They are the only digital card,
cable, and moitor I have. Guess I'll need to drag them to the repair shop
for testing...
You may also want to take a look at /etc/grub/grub.conf, and see if
you are setting a video mode that the monitor does not like... Also,
are you using the frame buffer mode for virtual consoles, or one of
the video card's text modes?
