Though scanning voltages go up.  And if EHT is generated by the
horizontal oscillators, that goes up as well.  I've seen sets go "bang!"
when the horizontal frequency went too high, I wouldn't rule out the
same thing happening with a computer monitor.  Particularly if you have
one that doesn't do out-of-range detection.
