[root localhost unix]# yum check-update Loading "installonlyn" plugin Setting up repositories Could not retrieve mirrorlist http://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/mi...ore-6&arch=i386 error was [Errno 4] IOError: <urlopen error (110, 'Connection timed out')> Error: Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: core [root localhost unix]# ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- with Firefox my internet is working fine, what is the trouble now?
Hi !
hi
I don't think ability/inability to accessing internet with firefox has anything to do with this.
ok
go to /etc/yum.repos.d as root and carefully check all the .repo files, specially fedora-core.repo. the enabled flag should be 1; i.e. enabled=1 and there shouldn't be a hash sign before mirrorlist sentence.
check for the rest of the repos. also, leave the fedora-development.repo as it is, otherwise your FC6 will become rawhide, i suppose :)
yes, i checked all, here is what i have found: 1. there are 3 types of things in any repo: [core], [core-debuginfo] & [core-source] 2. [core] is enabled in all repos whereas the other 2 are disables in all repos 3. in every repo, "baseurl" is commented-out (with #) whereas "mirrorlist" is not. amit, now what? -- http://arnuld.blogspot.com/
