with Firefox my internet is working fine, what is the trouble now?

I don't think ability/inability to accessing internet with firefox has
anything to do with this.

ok

go to /etc/yum.repos.d as root and carefully
check all the .repo files, specially fedora-core.repo. the enabled
flag should be 1; i.e. enabled=1
and there shouldn't be a hash sign before mirrorlist sentence.

check for the rest of the repos. also, leave the
fedora-development.repo as it is, otherwise your FC6 will become
rawhide, i suppose :)

yes, i checked all, here is what i have found:

1. there are 3 types of  things in any repo: [core], [core-debuginfo]
& [core-source]
2. [core] is enabled in all repos whereas the other 2 are disables in all repos
3. in every repo, "baseurl" is commented-out (with #) whereas
"mirrorlist" is not.
