I've had the opposite experience, and was quite surprised at how quickly someone resolved an error I noticed. Much to the amusement of a Windows-using friend of mine who'd been there at the time. He thought I'd be ignored. I'm sure there will be the odd maintainer who didn't give a damn about some niggle with software that works fine for them, and it'll certainly be hard for them to fix a fault that they can't find. But the more information you can find out about the problem (logs, etc.), the better the chance at a quick resolution. Sometimes we can't provide that information, and bugs end up unresolved until someone else can fill in the blanks.
