Tools -> Configure Kmail -> Accounts -> Select Account -> Modify

uncheck the box labeled 'Enable Interval Checking'

repeat for all configured accounts

For all 22 of them? And then reconnect each one each evening? I don't
think that is quite the ideal solution. What does the "Work Offline"
feature do, if not instruct Kmail not to try to connect to the net?
