Ah... since OAR is to run on Fedora Linux and is an example of how linux can be used to do something as a suite of applications that just might directly impact your life and your family, as the guy that might have entered your home and beat you or yours senseless makes an educated decision not to, all because of something that runs on Fedora, it might be relevant. Or, maybe not... depending on your level of empathy for others around you. We're doing our "proof-of-concept" presentation to NCDOC in the 24th of this month. This just might become an inroad for RH/FC into the states IT infrastructure as well. So, just how is that not relevant? The pricetag to the state(s) is free. Our non-profit is providing this. Using linux. The University of Wisconsin is providing a ton of tech support. The damn thing still has huge holes in it. :) It seems the base package runs better on Windows than Linux out of the box, so me and a couple of people are having to fix that as well, before everything can be tied together. Nor am I a coder versed in smalltalk / squeak which is the VR package we're trying to use, similar to the server for "SecondLife". If I can get past the "Proof-of-Concept", it's been proposed that we take it to a Juvvie Detention Center. <shudders> ... that's a tough crowd! <shudders again> I think it will work though. The methodology to be used and the content is already proved to work minor miracles. Once it all comes together, everyone will be encouraged to put in their two cents worth of whatever skills they wish to contribute. I might be just showing up with a bunch of videos showing how it works, (captured from machines running Windows, which I refuse to do) if we can't get past the bugs, but I'm showing up. That's 99% of success, the showing up. Now you know the rest of the story.
