FC6 DVD as a repository for yum/pirut ??

Is there any way to make yum/pirut see the FC6 DVD (mounted) as a repository ? I'm using FC6. I've tried adding
file://mnt/dvd/ to yum.conf, but only to see yum complain that repomd.xml is missing (but it's there in FC6 DVD /repodata/repomd.xml).
