Try this, comment out the DPMS line in the xorg.conf file. I know it's a stupid interelation (power management versus screen mode detection), but I followed someone else's hint about that, and FC6 stopped resetting the screen resolution too low on a friend's PC on every X restart or system reboot. You might want to post the whole config file that you tried. Do those options belong with the monitor or video card section? I would have thought that if you wanted a particular video card not to do some probing, you'd configure it. -- (Currently testing FC5, but still running FC4, if that's important.)
