I just had the same problem with my all-in-one HP.  I just type
hp-toolbox (I think, I'm not home I can't swear to that exact name) in a
terminal window.  BTW, hplip works great, kudos to the guys making that
happen.  Now I can do everything in Linux I need to.  ('cept games.)
