I would definitely choose Linux's software RAID over any BIOS assisted
RAID.  Not only is the Linux software RAID well tested, but should you
have questions in the future there are many more sources of information
on proper setup (and recovery) of linux software RAID arrays than the
BIOS assisted solutions.

My trust goes to the Linux software RAID setups over "FRAID" setups
everytime.
