 # locate mysqlclient
/usr/lib/mysql/libmysqlclient.so.15
/usr/lib/mysql/libmysqlclient.so.15.0.0
/usr/lib/mysql/libmysqlclient_r.so.15
/usr/lib/mysql/libmysqlclient_r.so.15.0.0

# rpm -q --whatprovides /usr/lib/mysql/libmysqlclient.so.15
mysql-5.0.22-1.FC5.1

make sure you install 'gems' as root
