  I can do, on Dell D610, with M300. But the 8.31.5 release doesn't let
my laptop suspend work. I went back to 8.30.3, and this seemed easier to
implement with the ATI drivers directly (after all, they do build RPMs)

I needed these in xorg.conf 

Section "Module"
        Load  "glx"
        Load  "dri"
        Load  "extmod"
EndSection

   Section "Extensions"
        Option      "Composite" "Disable"
EndSection

Also, in device, for xv:
 Option "VideoOverlay"               "on"
