That is correct. Because of legal issues, the firmware can't be shipped
with the distro. Everything else for the IPW2200 is already in there.

Add the livna repo to your yum configuration and download the firmware for
your card from there. Then configure the NetworkManager daemon to start at
boot and use gnome network manager or knetworkmanager to find the
available
networks and connect to them. It "just works".
