Sorry for the off topic post. Does anyone know of a really good book
that covers writing scripts ?

Preferably this book will have lots of examples and covers some of the
more esoteric and hidden stuff.

Is this one any good ?

And no, I don't want to Perl for this stuff.
Thanks.

Hi Kim,

well, it's not exactly a book, but the Advanced Bash Scripting Guide [http://www.tldp.org/LDP/abs/html/] is an _amazing_ resource for Bash shell programming IMHO. It does have lots of examples and covers from basic to (really) esoteric stuff. You might give it a try since it's free and online ;-)
