They don't always, yet there can be problems.  Download the checksum as
well as the ISO, and check the downloaded file against the checksum.
That'll test the download.  It's pointless to continue with a broken
download, but if it checks out, then you've got installation choices:

Burn a disc, and hope that it works.  Perhaps ignoring the media check
that the installation offers, it doesn't always work with all hardware.
You can verify the disc in other ways, if you want to.

Install over a network from the ISO file.  You can download and burn the
rescue disc to start an installation that way.
