I'm looking for something similar to the TextPad (http://www.textpad.com) for windows program that can run on Linux. It should be used for editing css, html with server side includes for apache.

It should handle syntax coloring, for various languages, have clip libraries. It should have some kind of workspaces where save the position of open windows. It should be able to handle 300 or so open files for editing at the same time
It should be possible to do search and replace in multiple documents.
It should be possible to invoke command line tools and get the output from them back into the editor. E.g. It should be possible to connect to a JDK for compiling java code and get back error messages from the compile into the editor, and to double click on compile errors to jump to the offending line
in the code.

It should be less heavy than eclipse.

Any suggestions would be very welcome!

Thanks for all your suggestions!
However, most of them are not even close to filling the requirements.
I'll think I will try to get Textpad to work with wine.
