I'm not sure I understand what you mean:
I write drivers for a living and the only way for me to capture kernel
OOps is a serial console.
I either: A. Connect my aging P2/333 laptop to the target machine.  OR
B. Setup an old PC, stick a very old multi-I/O card with gazillion RS232
ports, sending all the input to log files.
