Just a few of them for Linux can be found at the Linux App Finder pages, http://www.linuxappfinder.com/internetandnetworking/chat or from http://www.linux.com/howtos/IRC/xfree.shtml That linuxappfinder site doesn't list console based irc clients, such as bitchX ircII, but linux.com does at http://www.linux.com/howtos/IRC/console.shtml I personally use XChat (http://www.xchat.org) for irc on Linux. They also have ports for windows and Mac on their download page. Another very popular client (for windows only) is mIRC. It is not open source, and not free with a 30 day evaluation. Then it would cost you $20 (USD) to register it. There is also an extension to FireFox called ChatZilla that claims to be "A clean, easy to use and highly extensible Internet Relay Chat (IRC) client.". I haven't used it before, but seems like an interesting idea. You can get more info about it from http://chatzilla.hacksrus.com/ I think that you can also look into the SeaMonkey project (the fork of the full mozilla suite) as it comes with an IRC client, also called ChatZilla.
