I'd be inclined to believe that all the PCs were in a marginal condition, for some reason (e.g. a history of being stressed, never were very good hardware in the first place, etc.), and that *any* prolonged system stressing activity might have been the final straw for them, with your recent adventure just being an unfortunate circumstance at the end of their lifespan. -- (Currently running FC4, occasionally trying FC5.)
