Can I keep /mnt... and /home when I do the fresh install? I can just choose not to format that correct?

To me, the problem is that his FC3 wasn't working properly, so he upgraded (how? yum or installer?) to FC5 hoping that would fix it. He had a mess, and tried to fix it by making it more complicated.
