That's a very good point. When I was messing about with the P4 systems at home to find out what was wrong with one of them I found that the gob of heat sink compound type substance on the bottom of the retail pack fan looks as if it will only work the once. White spirit (turps substitute) from the paint section of the DIY store cleaned it from the bottom of the fan and the top of the processor very nicely. I used some "Servisol" heat sink compound to replace it and everything has been working very nicely ever since.
