Did try to follow your suggestions and I do get the K Control Center
back - but interestingly in the control centre, even after restarting
X, the control centre show that the version is still kdebase-3.5.3-0.3
despite rpm -q showing that kdebase-3.5.3-0.4.fc5 is installed!

Do we have a file lock problem and need to redo the update with X stopped?
