I can see the sense in making is simple for the server, but there's still room for making the client a bit better. For instance, HTTP HEAD fetches on the repomd.xml and the primary.xml.gz should match, if they're in sync, but if they're not, there's no point in downloading the whole file. -- (Currently running FC4, occasionally trying FC5.)
