I see - you mean a compiled version of kernel-2.6.17 .
I could certainly have waited for that;
however, for various reasons I prefer to (in fact need to)
compile my own kernel,
which I have now succeeded in doing.

I will wait for the compiled version to hit 
the official Fedora extras or updates repositories,
and see how it runs on my laptop (ThinkPad T20).
