Thanks, but I already know I am loading my own environment....

I will give an example of what's happening for me:

# yum update    (for example)
	blah blah blah

Now, after a while, I want to recheck the repositories, so I enter yu
# yu

and hit PrevPage, expecting to have the 'yum update' I entered before... but
bash navigates to I-am-not-sure-where.

Under SuSE I was used to get it.

tab completion works for me - perhaps you are doing something that isn't
invoking the user environment...

su - # invokes user environment
su # doesn't invoke user environment
su - craig # invokes user environment
