I recently built a new machine using Fedora Core 5, with a DPT (now adaptec) PM1564U3 Smart RAID controller card. I checked around ( http://i2o.shadowconnect.com/ ) and the card is supported, I even saw this (http://i2o.shadowconnect.com/faq.php#i2o_scsi); it does not apply. Better still both the installer and rescue CD boot, find the controller card (complain about IRQ 9 where the RAID card is) and continue on loading 'i2o_block'. When my installed copy of FC5 tries to boot, initrd always dies at 'i2o_block' ... I have edited my initrd so the computer boots, yet I still can not get FC5 to recognize the card. Kernel version : 2.6.16-1.2133_FC5smp ; fails with same error on 2.6.15-1.2054_FC5 ** SNIP ** # tail -f /var/log/messages &; modprobe i2o_block Jun 15 13:24:38 atlas kernel: I2O Block Device OSM v1.325 Jun 15 13:24:38 atlas kernel: block-osm: registered device at major 80 # ; this term is now hung good and /dev/i2o does not exist ** SNIP ** Yet here is the output from the RescueCD, ** SNIP ** # dmesg ...
